Q. What The LEDs do indicate?
A. The LED indicators serve 2 purposes:

- To provide a status of the current condition.
The following slides will use the following symbols to identify the LED state. Depending upon the orientation of the CPE to the user, the direction of the illumination may be right to left or left to right.
Q. What does it mean when there are No LEDs Illuminated?

It means that either
- there is no connection between the Ethernet card in the PC and the CPE.
- the PC is shutdown or disconnected.
Q. What does it mean when LEDs are scanning (Chasing)?
This is an indication that the CPE cannot detect an airlink signal. The CPE is scanning all airlink channels for a suitable signal. Therefore, try the CPE in another location.
Q. What does it mean when LEDs are blinking slowly?
It means that
- CPE has found a suitable signal and awaiting registration with the provisioning system,
- Process should only take seconds,
- Pesco may have CPEs disabled in their provisioning database.
Q. What does it mean when LEDs Illuminated Solid?
This is a Normal operation. Current signal strength is indicated by the number of LEDs illuminated. So, CPE throughput is not influenced by the number of LEDs illuminated.
Q. Why sometimes the number of LEDs Illuminated Decreases or Increases?
This is not unusual. In fact, the signal received by the CPE is reflected and can be impacted by terrain, buildings, and moving objects. Moreover, connection throughput
is not influenced by the signal strength.
Q. Is it dangerous to be near the BITS box when it is transmitting?
A. NO. There are no problems with the RF exposure when sitting near an active box. The box operates within specified guidelines for RF exposure.
Q. Is the BITS box compatible with Wi-Fi systems or will there be any interference?
A. The box is compatible with 802.11b access points and routers.
Interference is usually not a problem provided the wireless AP is installed away from the box antenna.
Q. Why is the signal strength changing?
A. It is not unusual for the signal strength LEDs to vary from time to time. The signal that reaches the CPE is reflected and can be impacted by terrain, buildings, moving objects, etc...
Q. I cannot connect to the Internet. Why?
A. Make sure the computer is configured to automatically receive an IP address. Next, you need to check the CPE status. If LEDs are on solid, then the CPE has a successful connection to the airlink. You can try to renew your IP address by rebooting your PC.
Q. My CPE works at home but not at my work or friend’s house. Why?
A. The CPE searches for a valid signal each time it is powered on. It is possible that the PESCO does not offer coverage in that particular geographic location.
Q. Can I turn the LEDs off?
A. There is not a way to turn off the LEDs on the CPE.
Q. Will the CPE connect to my Ethernet card on my PC that is 100baseT?

Q. Yesterday, the connection was working normally but today I have no connection and only the 2nd and the 4th LED are on?
This means that your service plan has expired and your CPE is back in provisioning state. You should restart the CPE and then you will have 10 min to enter your prepaid card in order to reconnect to the internet.
